Our research is based on Green Chemistry principles and focused on the use of new technologies (microwaves and ultrasounds) for the design, development and characterization of new heterogeneous catalysts to be applied for chemical processes of industrial and environmental interest.
Current main research lines involve the catalytic revalorization of glycerine, by-product formed in high amounts during biodiesel manufacture, and the catalytic valorization of lignocellulosic biomass wastes produced in the area of Tarragona (almond shells) to obtain high-added value products: liquid biofuels, biofuel additives, bioplastics and asphalts, in a cascade biorefinery approach.
