The socio-business environment of Tarragona is mainly related to chemical production since here is located the largest petrochemical pole in Southern Europe. Additionally, there is an important cluster of agrofood, cosmetics and water treatment companies in the area.

In this context, the research group is actively involved in the transfer of knowledge and technology to the companies in the area in addition to carry out specific services to the companies, such as:

• Preparation of materials and catalysts with specific properties using conventional and novel methodologies (microwaves, ultrasounds)
• Characterization of materials by different techniques
• Study and development of catalytic processes of industrial and environmental interest.
• Technic advisement in the field of inorganic materials and heterogeneous catalysis.
